Nigel Clothier – Face – Ryeharbour Records
Classic Rock fans will probably recognise the name of Nigel Clothier as the front man of Sharp Practise but his solo work is something of a departure from that of his band.
His 2007 solo debut Book of Days was an Americana Rock album whilst he diversifies into folk rock territory on this latest offering. This is gentle, simplistic, unfussy and uncluttered with a less is more approach to the instrumentation and some delightfully poetic lyrics.
Somewhat surprisingly, in view of the face that he is a front man, his vocals are the weakest point of the album but that doesn’t detract from what is a fine piece of work.
